CastNet
Back to map

Plain language for every number.

Geofencing comes with too many abbreviations and too much loose language. This reference explains what CastNet measures, how attribution works, what higher tiers add, and where a number remains an estimate instead of partner-confirmed performance.

CastNet reports aggregated campaign activity. No customer dashboard should expose an individual person's identity or movement trail.

Aggregated data

PrivacyAll tiers

Campaign totals grouped across many devices or events.

CastNet reports combined reach, impressions, clicks, and modeled actions. The customer sees totals, not an individual person's identity or movement trail.

Attribution model

AttributionAll tiers

The rule used to assign conversion credit to marketing touchpoints.

Common models include last-click, first-touch, linear, time-decay, position-based, and data-driven attribution. CastNet uses last-click by default and exposes deeper options on higher tiers.

Click-through rate (CTR)

MeasurementAll tiers

The share of delivered impressions that produced a click.

CTR equals clicks divided by impressions. It measures response to the ad, not sales or store visits.

Competitor fencing

Campaign setupCity Block+

A geofence drawn around a competing location.

The campaign targets eligible devices that enter the defined competitor area, subject to partner inventory, privacy rules, and campaign settings.

Conversion

MeasurementAll tiers

A defined action attributed to a campaign.

A conversion can be a download, site action, call, form submission, purchase, or modeled visit. The report must label whether the number is observed, partner-reported, or estimated.

Corridor geofence

Campaign setupCity Block+

A targeting area drawn along a route instead of around one point.

Corridors are useful for commuter roads, event approaches, and trade routes. City Block includes one corridor as an alternative to three separate geofences.

Cost per action (CPA)

Industry pricingIndustry term

Campaign cost divided by attributed actions or conversions.

CPA is performance-focused. It becomes more useful after the conversion definition and attribution window are fixed.

Cost per mille (CPM)

Industry pricingIndustry term

The cost to deliver 1,000 ad impressions.

CPM is common in programmatic geofencing. A $10 CPM means $10 of media cost for each 1,000 delivered impressions. CastNet plans use flat tier pricing; CPM appears as a planning and efficiency metric.

CPM vs. CPA

Industry pricingIndustry term

CPM prices exposure; CPA prices a defined result.

Use CPM to judge awareness efficiency and CPA to judge acquisition efficiency. A campaign can track both, but they answer different questions.

Data-driven attribution

AttributionIndustry term

A model that assigns fractional credit using observed conversion paths.

The model compares many touchpoint sequences and estimates each touchpoint's contribution. It needs enough clean conversion volume; without that volume, rule-based multi-touch models are more defensible.

Demand-side platform (DSP)

DeliveryAll tiers

The system that buys and delivers programmatic advertising inventory.

CastNet sends targeting and campaign instructions through DSP partners. Those partners return delivery, location, pixel, and attribution data for aggregated reporting.

Direct carrier integration

DeliveryAll tiers

A direct technical or commercial connection to a mobile carrier.

CastNet does not require one. DSP and approved location-data partners handle advertising delivery and eligible location signals without CastNet integrating with each carrier.

Direct Google integration

DeliveryAll tiers

Using Google as the required map, ad, or analytics connection.

CastNet's core pin, polygon, DSP delivery, and reporting flow does not require a direct Google integration. A separate Google service may be added later only for a defined use case.

Event Strike window

Campaign setupMarket Leader

A short scheduled targeting window around a venue or event.

Market Leader can concentrate delivery around openings, games, festivals, or other time-bound traffic surges instead of leaving the net at a steady schedule.

First-touch attribution

AttributionIndustry term

Gives all conversion credit to the first recorded interaction.

First-touch highlights discovery and awareness. It ignores the later interactions that may have closed the action.

Geofence

Campaign setupAll tiers

A digital boundary used to target eligible devices in a real-world area.

A CastNet geofence can begin as a pin and radius, a polygon, or a corridor. Payment locks the selected campaign area.

Geofencing precision

DeliveryAll tiers

How tightly the digital boundary matches the intended physical area.

Partners may combine GPS, polygons, WiFi signals, address or parcel geometry, and other approved location signals. GPS accuracy varies by device and environment, so precision is never absolute.

Hit / impression

MeasurementAll tiers

One recorded ad delivery or view opportunity.

CastNet uses “hits” as plain-language shorthand for impressions. Impressions can exceed reach because one person may receive the ad more than once.

Incrementality test

AttributionIndustry term

A test of whether the campaign caused additional outcomes beyond the baseline.

Incrementality compares an exposed group with a valid control or counterfactual. It is stronger evidence of causal lift than attribution alone, but it requires enough data and disciplined test design.

Last-click attribution

AttributionAll tiers

Gives all conversion credit to the final recorded click.

Last-click is simple and auditable, but it can undervalue earlier geofence impressions and awareness touches. It is CastNet's default attribution view.

Linear attribution

AttributionCity Block+

Splits conversion credit equally across recorded touchpoints.

Linear attribution is easy to explain and gives the full journey visibility, but it assumes every touchpoint contributed equally.

Location data provider

DeliveryIndustry term

A partner that supplies approved location, place, audience, or foot-traffic data.

Providers may supply GPS observations, points of interest, audience segments, parcel context, or visitation analysis. CastNet receives normalized, aggregated output through its delivery partners.

Marketing mix modeling (MMM)

AttributionIndustry term

Statistical analysis of how channels contribute to sales or other outcomes.

MMM works at an aggregate level and can account for baseline demand, seasonality, outside factors, and channel interaction. It is used for budget planning, not device-level campaign reporting.

Multi-touch attribution

AttributionCity Block+

Shares conversion credit across more than one customer touchpoint.

CastNet higher tiers can report linear, time-decay, or position-based views when partner data supports them. These models describe the journey better than a single-touch model.

Pixel / beacon

DeliveryAll tiers

A small tracking signal that records an eligible ad or website event.

Pixels and beacons can report impressions, page visits, conversions, or other configured events. They must be deployed with appropriate consent and privacy controls.

Plat-line / parcel data

Campaign setupAll tiers

Boundary data used to tighten targeting around a property or parcel.

When a partner supports it, parcel geometry can be used instead of a broad radius. CastNet does not require a direct Google or carrier integration to use partner-supplied boundary data.

Position-based attribution

AttributionCity Block+

Gives more credit to the first and last touchpoints.

A common U-shaped version gives 40% to the first touch, 40% to the last, and splits the remaining 20% across the middle interactions.

Provider price range

Industry pricingIndustry term

An estimated market range, not a guaranteed vendor quote.

Programmatic location campaigns are often priced through CPM, data fees, platform minimums, or a percentage of media spend. The attached planning notes cited roughly $5–$25 CPM as a broad example; current partner quotes must be verified before a buying decision.

Reach

MeasurementAll tiers

Estimated or measured people exposed to the campaign.

Reach counts people or devices once within the reporting period. The map shows a planning range before launch; partner-confirmed reach replaces the estimate after delivery begins.

Time-decay attribution

AttributionCity Block+

Gives more credit to touchpoints closer to the conversion.

Exponential time-decay can halve credit at a fixed interval, such as every seven days. It favors recent influence while still recognizing earlier touches.

Store-visit lift

MeasurementIndustry term

The estimated increase in visits associated with campaign exposure.

A defensible lift study compares observed visits against a baseline or control. A simple count of post-exposure visits is attribution, not proof that the ad caused the visit.

View-through attribution

AttributionCity Block+

Credits a later action to an ad impression that was not clicked.

Example: a person receives a geofence ad and later visits the site or store. The action can count as influenced if it occurs inside the selected view-through window.

View-through window

AttributionMarket Leader

The number of days after an impression when a later action may receive credit.

Shorter windows are stricter and reduce noise. Longer windows capture delayed action but can over-credit unrelated behavior. Market Leader supports a selectable 7–30 day window.

WiFi and IP matching

DeliveryAll tiers

Supplemental signals used to connect eligible delivery and response events.

WiFi and IP signals can improve coverage where GPS is limited, but they are less precise than a clean GPS point. CastNet reports aggregated partner output rather than exposing raw identifiers.
